Editorial policy / How we review

The venue

Faurot Field

Capacity 62,621Opened 1926Columbia, Missouri

Built into a hillside with the rock M on the north end and open sightlines.

  • The east side gets afternoon sun; the west side is shaded by the press box later.
  • The hill above the north end zone is the cheapest way in for families.
Getting there

Travel, parking and transit

Arrival is the part visitors underestimate. Decide your route and your parking plan before the morning of the game.

Travel into town

  • Columbia (COU) is limited; Kansas City and St. Louis are each about two hours.
  • Interstate 70 backs up after games. Leave before the fourth quarter or after the crowd.

Parking

Official lots are sold through the athletic department and the closest ones are largely committed to donors and season-ticket holders. Public and private lots sit further out and are the realistic option for a single visit.

  • Buy parking in advance where the venue offers it; game-day cash lots fill first
  • A ten to fifteen minute walk in each direction is normal and usually beats the exit queue
  • Rideshare pickup zones move on game days, so confirm the drop point rather than pinning the stadium
  • Check the current lot map and opening times on the official athletics site the week of the game
Before kickoff

Tailgating

What the pre-game looks like here, and the kit that makes it work.

  • The Reactor Field lots are the main scene and open five hours before kickoff.
  • Downtown Columbia is a short walk and a good rain plan.

Bring shade and wind protection, a cooler that holds ice through the afternoon, a cooking setup you can pack away hot, and a folding table. Cornhole is the default lot game almost everywhere.

At the gates

Entry, what to bring and what to leave

Policies are set by the venue and revised each season. Treat the list below as the shape of the rules and confirm the specifics before you travel.

Bring

  • Mobile ticket downloaded in advance; stadium data is unreliable at capacity
  • A clear bag within the published size limit, or no bag at all
  • Layers and rain shell: open bowls hold wind and there is rarely cover
  • Sunscreen for early-season afternoon kickoffs
  • A portable battery, since a full day on mobile ticketing drains a phone

Leave in the car

  • Backpacks and non-compliant bags: there is rarely a bag check on site
  • Outside food and drink, including sealed bottles at most venues
  • Umbrellas, which are commonly prohibited even in rain
  • Seat cushions with backs or arms where the venue restricts them
  • Any professional camera with a detachable lens

Eating and staying nearby

Campus-adjacent restaurants run at capacity from late morning and most do not take reservations on game days. Eat early, eat in the lot, or book somewhere a mile or two out and travel in. Hotel rates in Columbia, Missouri rise sharply for ranked opponents and rivalry weekends, so book as soon as the schedule is released and confirm cancellation terms.

Can't make it

Watching from home

SEC games are split between the conference network and national broadcast windows, and the window for a given week is usually confirmed under two weeks out. Our viewing guide covers which services carry which windows, and what the cheapest complete setup looks like.

Stream Missouri games live

Fubo carries the conference network plus national broadcast windows, so one trial covers most of the schedule you cannot pick up with an antenna.

FAQ

Game day questions

How early should I arrive at Faurot Field?
Plan on being in the lots three to four hours before kickoff for a full tailgate, and at the gates 45 minutes out. Early kickoffs compress everything: the lots open earlier and the roads back up sooner.
What bag can I bring in?
College and pro venues generally operate a clear-bag policy with a small clutch exception, but the exact dimensions and prohibited-item list are set by the venue and change season to season. Confirm the current policy on the athletic department page before you leave.
Can I watch the game if I cannot get a ticket?
SEC games are carried across the conference network and national broadcast windows. Our viewing guide explains which setup covers which window.
